Leadership and Management Development
Vestas, Isle of Wight
Vestas wanted to provide professional learning and development for their managers and sought to achieve as much of the learning as possible through community engagement activities. They specifically wanted to focus on youth unemployment, anti-social behaviour and school truancy in their local area.
The project was designed by Employee Volunteering in partnership with Vestas, local schools, youth organisations and local charities. It delivered guided learning on a range of leadership and management skills, including coaching and mentoring. Delegates applied their learning in a range of interventions with school children aged from 11 to 13 to help develop their confidence and self esteem.
During the 6 month programme the employees applied leadership skills, team building skills, coaching skills, communication skills, planning skills and presentation skills.
