Team Volunteering
American Express at Burdett Coutts
American Express engaged Employee Volunteering to organise a project for 75 employees from across London and the South East. Employees within American Express did not have the time to organise the logistical arrangements for a project of this scale.
The volunteers refurbished an independent charity school where over half the children are eligible for free school meals. The project comprised 8 concurrent tasks for teams of between 6 and 10 employees working to a high standard of work. The project was fully scoped and all materials and equipment prepared by EV CiC.
The teams repainted two school halls, corridors, stairways, kitchen area and staff area. They also refurbished outside seating and painted a football pitch on the school playground. With current pressures on grant and public funding this was work that the school would not have been able to fund professionally at an estimated cost of £30k.
