Practical Project – Outdoors

The charity supports adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs in London. In this case, the project took place at a home to 5 adults with learning disabilities. Most of the residents have some form of mobility issue but staff at the home work hard to ensure the people they support get out into the community, have fun, make friends and connect with the wider world. The volunteers created a sensory garden for the residents including clearing the space, building raised beds, paths and fencing and completing the garden with suitable sensory items and plants. Training, equipment and materials are provided and so no experience is needed by volunteers for this type of project.
